In a cozy home filled with warmth, laughter, and a sprinkle of chaos, we gather to celebrate the life of a little corgi with a big personality—Henry, or as his family lovingly calls him, “Piccolo Patato,” the little potato. That day, was ALL about him. In his 12 years, he has brought endless smiles and a dash of mischief to everyone he meets. As the day came to an end, I can’t help but smile on the incredible end of life Tilly Project photo session we had on one of Henry’s last days with his family.
From the moment Henry bounded into his family’s lives they knew he would leave paw prints that could never be replaced. Henry is a one of a kind corgi. With a personality as vibrant as his fluffy fur, this little potato has always been a ball of joy and laughter. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t just walk into a room—he struts in like he owns the place, tail held high, ready to command attention.
Henry possesses that classic corgi wit, smart as a whip yet with a little sass that adds to his charm. As he grew older, his expressive attitude became part of his comedic personality. Picture this: as soon as anyone attempts to take a posed photo, Henry spins around like a seasoned magician, disappearing from the frame with a flourish. “Not today!” he seems to say, as he gives his best “I’m too dignified for this nonsense” look. His family has learned to embrace the candid shots, capturing Henry in all his quirky glory. Especially when playing a game of “Catch the Cheerio”!
As the years rolled on, Henry faced the typical challenges that come with aging, but he did so with style. Mobility became a bit of a challenge, but did that stop him? Absolutely not! It merely shifted his focus to perfecting the art of being a professional couch potato and part-time NASCAR driver with his wheels.
Determined to keep the spirit of adventure alive, Henry’s family introduced him to a wheelchair. Let me tell you, this is where the fun really began! With his little legs secured, Henry transformed into a racing corgi, zooming whenever he could like he was on a mission. “Clear the way, I’m a potato on wheels!” he seemed to shout, as he confidently rolled around, leaving his family in stitches.
The wheelchair allowed him to explore the outside world once again. Short walks became epic adventures filled with new smells, sights, and plenty of opportunities to stop and sniff—because let’s face it, every corgi knows that the world is full of hidden treasures (and treats). Watching Henry roll around the neighborhood, tail wagging like a flag, was a heartwarming reminder that even with challenges, joy can be found in the simplest moments.
On a cloudy and snowy day, I had the absolute pleasure of documenting Henry’s journey. My heart was full of anticipation and a tinge of sadness, knowing how significant this day was for his family.
His family welcomed me with open arms, eager to share stories about their beloved little potato. As they reminisced, laughter filled the room, a beautiful soundtrack to the bittersweet reality they faced.
In these moments, I captured the essence of what it means to love a pet deeply. There was a tangible warmth in the air, a sense of belonging and togetherness as they all snuggled close. Henry, clearly in his element, soaking up every ounce of love like the true attention-seeker he was.
Despite the challenges he faced, the connection among them was beautiful, filled with laughter, tears, and a profound appreciation for the time they had spent together. It was a reminder that love transcends any physical limitations.
While the reality of Henry’s impending journey weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts, they chose to focus on the celebration of his life. They reflected on the happiness he had brought and the countless memories they had created together. It was a beautiful testament to the love they shared—a love that would continue to live on in their hearts.
As I captured those final moments, I felt a wave of emotion wash over me. I knew that these photographs would serve as a lasting tribute to the joy, laughter, and love that Henry had given his family. Each image would tell his story—a story filled with quirks, cuddles, and the undeniable charm of a little corgi who had stolen hearts everywhere he went.
I was grateful to have met Henry in his last few days before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but his legacy of love and laughter would forever resonate with his family. They would remember him not just for the challenges of aging but for the joy he brought into their lives—the laughter during snack time, the cuddles on the couch, and the adventures in his wheelchair.
As they moved forward, they would carry the warmth of his spirit with them, knowing that Henry was more than a pet; he was a cherished member of their family, a little potato with a big heart.
Henry taught us all that life is meant to be celebrated, filled with laughter and love. He showed us that even in the face of challenges, there’s always room for joy.
And so, as we bid farewell to our beloved Henry, let’s remember to cherish every moment, to embrace the quirks that make our pets unique, and to celebrate the love that binds us together. After all, every little potato deserves to be celebrated, and Henry will forever hold a special place in our hearts—a true corgi superstar who will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, dear Henry. You were loved beyond measure, and your spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew you. 🌈 🐾
